A large Poster for an exhibit of the The James May Collection of textiles, wallpapers and other objets d'art from the Vienna Workshop 1902-32, consisting of over 5,000 items. The May collection is unique and comprises the largest collection of it's kind. This exhibition poster was designed by Franco Maria Ricci of Parma, Italy. It's dominant feature is the black-on-white silk fabric "Pompeii" (#453) by Arnold Nechansky in the genre of Aubrey Beardsley. ( The Vienna Workshop refernce library contained a copy of Oscar Wilde's illustrated book "The Woman's World" published in 1889 and catalogued as their volume # 281) Nechansky, in 1912, used the same female figure for a wallpaper design commisioned by the Czech company Piette.
